Testimonials

“My strike rate of wins to rides for Steve speaks for itself and that is why I always take the opportunity to ride for him when I can.   It is always a pleasure to ride his horses as they are both fit and well schooled.  Steve and Jayne are a hard working and formidable team who are straight talking and genuinely care about their horses.
Steve places his horses very well and there is great emphasis on attention to detail”.

“Whenever I got a phone call from my agent telling me that I was going to ride a novice chaser/hurdler 1st time out for Steve Gollings, I never even asked what it was because I knew it would be fit, well schooled & have a good chance. I have had the pleasure of knowing Steve & Jayne for many years & we have shared plenty of winners together .
Honest, reliable & hard working are 3 traits I always look for in people,
Jayne & Steve have those in abundance”.

‘Balancing the welfare of your horses with the demands of training and racing horses in a fiercely competitive industry is very difficult, but it is something that Steve Gollings achieves every time he receives a horse on his yard.   I have known Steve and his wife Jayne and their team of dedicated staff for 15 years and his commitment to the welfare of his horses is exemplary.
Steve runs an excellent yard and trains his horses sympathetically and with very good results and for me, is one of the few trainers I would recommend without reservation.’

“I have ridden for Steve since I came over to England in the late 90’s. Although I don’t ride horses for steve on a daily basis, when steve books me for one of his I am always confident of the horse running well as we have a 25% strike when teaming up together. Steve always has his horses fit, looking well and primed for their races and what he tells me of the horses chance is normally spot on”.

“I have had horses in training over the past 40 years and I have two horses at present being trained by Steve and Jayne Gollings.
I can honestly say they have all the qualities I look for in a trainer.
They are very experienced, knowledgable and produce winners over both sets of rules. They are easy to contact and make you most welcome when you visit their stables.
I enjoy having my horses with them”

We have had horses with Steve & Jayne for some 15 years.
We chose to have our horses with them because of their strong passionate
belief that the welfare of the horse comes first, with emphasis on care for
every detail of the horses’ wellbeing. They always do their best to
improve whatever natural ability the horse may have. They willingly give
their honest opinion about them, and make time to answer any queries
owners may have, and for regular yard visits.
So far we have been lucky to have had 20 plus winners from various
horses of ours trained by Steve & Jayne. Some homebred, some
purchased, and some that were given up on by other trainers.

’In the short time that I have been associated with Steve and Jayne as trainers to my horse, Kylladdie, and joint ownership in Rebel Hunter, they have been extremely professional in everything they do. As an owner you want to be involved in as much as possible about the decision making and preparation for a race, in the jockey choice and in the arrangements on the day. You also want your horse arriving at the track early, settled in and looking fantastic. Finally you want honest assessment of the race afterwards and to discuss future opportunities for improvement.
Steve, Jayne and all the staff at Highfield absolutely care for all their horses in superbly clean and tidy stables. They turn the horses out in superb condition, with special attention to the finest detail and image. Further, their reputation is so excellent within the racing world, such that we can attract the best jockeys and have the best facilities in which to watch our horses run.
On a personal note, as a newcomer to racehorse ownership, I have benefited from their welcoming and helpful approach, their advice at the sales and what to look for, and their trustworthy advice at all times. Even when we suffered a major injury to Rebel Hunter, their concern, care and attention in his hospital treatment and months of rehabilitation back home at Highfield show what fantastic people and genuine horse lovers Steve and Jayne are. I also include all the staff and people at Highfield within this statement, as it is always a true team effort to deliver the horses to the races with the best possible chance of success. Thank you. ‘’

“We first met Steve and Jayne over 20 years ago when they had a modest livery yard and were riding out for local trainers when the opportunity arose”
It was clear that they were ambitious and when the opportunity to develope Highfield House Stables appeared they grabbed it and Steve was subsequently successful in gaining a full license .Initially  they struggled with limited horses which despite many of them being not completely sound in body and mind, they gradually moved onto bigger and better things. They have deservedly succeeded by working hard , being professional and having high standards for both their owners and their horses. We, like many of Steve and Jayne’s original owners, continue  to support and follow their progress and wish them every success.
From a personal view we have enjoyed success with a winner at the  Cheltenham  festival with “In Truth ” and on the flat at Epsom when “Kings Thought ” won the prestigious City and Suburban.
Steve and Jayne bought both horse for us via their Northern Bloodstock.

Steve with his lovely wife Jayne have trained many winners for me over the years and together we have forged a firm friendship. The joy of having a winner in your colours is second to none and Steve provided many winners for me. Steve’s skill at training and placing horses is second to none. My company sponsored the Gollings yard for many years which proved to be an excellent investment in terms of TV exposure due to the winners and of course the excellent hospitality provided by the Gollings.

” I have known and had horses in training with Steve and Jayne for over 10 years. Throughout this time I have always found that whether a horse is highly successful such as Castleshane or one that struggles to compete they all receive  an equal and very high standard of care. All the horses in Steve’s care are treated extremely well and great effort is made to ensure they are all ready to run and perform at their very best when they get to a racecourse.  This care  shows itself at the race course in the way the  horses always seem fit and full of life. I’ve lost track of the number of occasions my horses have been judged best turned out. Going racing with Steve and Jayne is therefore a complete pleasure. They are warmly welcomed by their fellow professionals and take care that you are fully involved in the days racing.
An even warmer welcome is always available if you go and visit their superbly organised and run stables. The atmosphere amongst all their staff is warm and friendly and you get an immediate impression of efficiency and thoroughgoing professionalism. One can immediately see how much effort is put into the welfare of all the horses in their charge. Steve and Jayne’s philosophy of keeping horses settled and relaxed so they can reach a high level of fitness and perform at the very best of their ability is plain for all to see.”
